Detailed description of The Golf Club of Dallas

The Golf Club of Dallas, formerly named Oak Cliffs Country Club, is a semi-private, 18 hole golf course located in Dallas, Texas.

The course first opened for play in 1953. The course was designed by Perry and Press Maxwell. The Golf Course of Dallas was the final course designed by Perry Maxwell before his death in late 1952. In 2002, the course was renewed and slightly renovated by Charles Coody, primarily to restore its purity as a Perry and Press Maxwell design.

The course has tight, tree-lined fairways and very small greens. The course is resplendent with giant oaks.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,719 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,472 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 557 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 6, a 462-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at The Golf Club of Dallas Golf Course is # 17, the 154 yard par-3.

Played in a tournament on a Saturday. Clubhouse was confusing. Some members are @$$holes. They were attempting to jump in front of our tournament. Our tournament was not supplied with enough golf carts from the beginning. This was part of the reason why the last participants in our tournament were late starting and also the reason why the members tried to jump in front (how they got their carts, I'll never know). Members wouldn't give up their carts for our tournament. The pro shop was REALLY small and had a lot of stuff packed inside to sell. More than 1/2 of the actual club house looked to not even be in use. The dining/bar area was small as well. The locker room was actually pretty nice.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Better than average course for the area, Better courses for less nearby, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
